Seamaster Omega Olympic

I own a Omega Seamaster produced in 1956 under the reference OT 2850 - SEAMASTER XVI. It is 18K solid gold. It was produced in commemoration of the 25 Anniversary of Omega' Olympic debut and launched for the 1956 Olympic Games according to the Olympic vintage information sent to me. It has an Olympic Cross on the back as well as the front. I don't know how to get the back off to learn the serial number. I need a new band and buckle. I bought the watch new and wear it everyday. Was the original band croc? If so, was it brown or black?
Any idea of the value of the watch? It is NOT for sale. Going to give it to my kids or grandkids.

Thanks
