: I sometimes feel bad about it -- "its not
: 100% geniune", "Its not real" etc.... yet
: it was not passed off as a very valuable
: piece so I don't feel ripped off.
I think one of the board moderators put it nicely, saying that there were many dial variations and Omega did not do a good job of keeping accurate historical records of them. So, in essence, you have nothing to feel bad about. Your watch might only be perceived as "modified" by a vintage Omega purist, which is a very rare person to encounter. So I think you can rejoice in having obtained a beautiful vintage timepiece that you enjoy as-is.
Actually, I think sometimes a modification can increase the value of an item, if it is done tastefully and professionally. Some of these eBay Omega sellers are having the faces redone in gorgeous and tasteful color schemes. I'm very tempted to buy one of them at some future date (having recently acquired a Seamaster and a pie-pan style Constellation, I've tapped out my budget for a while!).
