A couple of recommendations

Sounds interesting Jeff, I'll have to make a visit next time I'm in NYC!

Ron, I've found New York pretty dry Heuer-wise in the past http://www.chronocentric.com/forums/heuer/index.cgi?page=1;md=read;id=29707 but there are a couple of places worth checking.

Try Louis Martin on 54 W 50th Street, near the Rockefeller Center. http://www.louismartin.com/ They have no Heuers on the website at the moment, but they didn't when I looked last time and they had a 50s one in the window, so I'd take a look anyway, particularly as you might be nearby for the skating anyway!

And I might be pre-empting Jeff with this one, but also try Central Watch in Grand Central. http://centralwatch.com/home.php See the site for directions once you're inside the Terminus. I think Jeff found a watch there but I'm not sure he ever went on to tell us the story, or at least my searching couldn't find it... The site shows mainly Rolex etc, but they've had Heuers before, with a particular run on Bunds a few years back.

The Diamond District around 47th is a bit of a waste of time to look for a good vintage (non-Rolex) watch, but worth a stroll for a smile at the grotesquely gaudy customised Breitlings...

Otherwise, your best chance might be one of the little jewellers/pawn shops dotted around - the one I mentioned in that report above opposite the Public Library (I ain't afraid of no ghost) on 42nd and 5th was quite interesting and there are lots more once you start getting down into those lower addresses, but to find a good Heuer you would have to get quite lucky.

A couple of the forum-goers live nearby so might have some better ideas, but I'll echo Jeff for now and say we'd like a nice report when you're back :) Have fun!
