: Hi all..
: Some time ago I picked up this 510.501 from a dealer in Germany who
: (allegedly) got the watch from a military watch dealer in Haifa,
: who alleged that the watch belonged to a pilot.
: The markings aren't the usual 'M XXX', but are: 82 AF 180
: Does this mean anything to anyone? I've scoured the net with no
: luck.
: As you can see, it has an all white handset, which is usually
: indicative of Israeli Defense Force watches (ond/or other Heuer
: mil watches). I have posted over on the MWR (mil watch resource)
: to see if they can shed any light on what the caseback markings
: mean.
: I thought I'd ask over here to see if anyone had any clue.

Hi Stewart
I was just wondering if it might be one of ours (South African Air Force) but I don't think so, even though the stamping is not dissimilar with the AF and not many numbers. I've checked with a friend and he thought so as well but I'm not so sure. As far as I know SAAF went from Lemania (mechanical) to Seiko (quartz). I don't think Heuer was ever used. Good luck with finding out, you've got me interested as well. Just for the record of the forum, this is a SAAF stamp.
Cheers
Paul
