In my opinion, down-playing the date in the seconds sub-dial was a smart move, given they wanted to include one. Placement is non-descript, and obviously this is a proto-type with the actual date in this being sideways. The larger bezel may take a bit of getting used to as compared to the original, but overall the aesthetic appeal of the piece is attractive, and a nice homage to the Ref. 2446 Mark3. 42mm size will appeal to today's watch enthusiast, while the design overall will attract a good segment of the collector community. My guess is this will be a $7k (ish) watch, and that will certainly be attractive to some for whom an original is simply out of reach. I suspect that holding and being able to inspect this in person, looking at every angle and every detail gives this much more substance vs. a few sneak peak pics being shared. I will be looking forward to seeing the production model next year.
