I agree with Justin’s assessment. The vast majority of Orange 844’s w/FE4611A are “project” watches. The Orange “Made in France” dials were readily available on eBay for some time. They were considered original dials, but not used in production. Your dial probably has under the retaining ring. Swapping the dials or building a watch from parts is common, and many have done these custom pieces specific to the Orange 844.

Also, the “Heuer” rotors are another suspect component. I’ve heard that they may have been used at the end of Monnin’s production in 1979. But generally speaking, the etching is not clean, and I’ve also heard they may have come from South America.

So in the end, Justin’s correct in only trusting a Ref. 980.005 as a true & proven Orange. These were done around 1980, Swiss Dial and ETA Movement after Heuer took over production from Monnin.
