So the movement and dial get sold in auction and the case gets sent to Cash My Gold? I think you could well be right, but it wouldn't have been the right choice in hindsight here.

There are a few solid gold cases floating around; not saying it would be an easy search but not an impossible one either. Gold filled is the precursor to gold plating, the new owner wouldn't be looking for that. At least I hope not! They wouldn't find it in a 2nd gen Carrera case anyway.
