That is a possibility, Bill...

One other scenario is that a collector arrived late to the party has contacted the seller and made an offer substantially higher than the Buyitnow price, for a deal outside ebay....sad but possible, in my experience...my two cent...

: That's what I'm wondering. Maybe members here would have better
: luck if there was sort of a moratorium on discussing EBAY ended
: auctions, just long enough to get the item into the buyer's
: hands. I know, in the early days of another watch forum for
: military watches almost 10 years ago, we could detect that
: trend. We were inadvertently educating EBAY sellers and
: therefore making pieces more expensive and difficult to snare.
: We also had to avoid discussing running auctions because we'd
: find they'd get ended suddenly and relisted with our own
: observations as listing info that boosted the price and the
: interest from other buyers.

: Sure aggravating to have it happen to you, Rob, since you couldn't
: be more of a gentleman. Better luck on the next one around the
: bend.

: Regards - Bill
