: associated quartz with cheap. Are there
: different quality quartz watches and would
: it be keenly accurate?
All but the cheapest modern quartz are quite accurate. Though the quartz from brands like Rolex and Omega are well better than most on accuracy. I've heard reports from many quartz SMP owners of their watches staying with 3-10 seconds a YEAR.
At the moment, Breitling has the upper hand with their SuperQuartz movement which claims not only far exceptional accuracy but also to run 8 years on its special lithium battery. This is in all their current model quartz watches.
Other than that, a quartz movement doesn't really cheapen a watch as the cost of the movement--mechanical or quartz--in most standard time/date and maybe chronograph watches is a trivial portion of the total cost anyway.
So go for what pleases you most!
