Hmmmmm..... Your questions really are difficult to answer because it's all relative.

I argee with Georges on #1. Rolex will never start selling off their movements. If they did, then the 'uniqueness' that a Rolex has will be challenged, and in my book, it would actually make a Rolex worse! It all has to do with marketing and exclusiveness, which leads into my answer for your second question. ETA would be stupid to stop selling their movements to other non-Swatch watch 'manufactures'. They would lose a huge amount of their revenue. That said, a less powerful company would be less presitagist and would be considered less noteworthy in the movement field.... in my book.........
