Re: AUTHENTIC WATCHES.COM - good experience
In Response To: Re: AUTHENTIC WATCHES.COM????? ()

I recently bought a TAG Heuer Aquaracer Calibre 5 from Authentic Watches.com and wanted to report a positive experience.
I had read all the reviews on sites like this, some of which had some pretty negative things to say about authenticwatches.com and other e-resellers.
The problem was that AW had my watch for $1995, which is $1000 less than normal retail price - so a pretty big incentive to buy from them.
The other problem was that my preferred watch was a limited edition, not available through authorized dealers in North America, only in Europe.
So that tipped the scale for me and I took the risk of buying from an internet reseller.

I had a very good experience, the transaction was smooth, the watch shipped on time and everything as billed.
The only thing that made me cross was that they could not tell me what the customs and taxes would be upon importing to Canada, which surely they have dealt with many times before.
I would have been able to avoid taxes if I had it shipped to US address, but that was not convenient at the time, plus then I would have had to lie about it on my customs declaration form.

I had asked about serial numbers, which they assured me were intact, but would not disclose pre-sale.
And sure enough my serial number is legible and unaltered.

The only downside is that you forego the manufacturers warranty, although AW gives you a 3 year warranty of their own.
How useful this is I have no idea - my watch works perfectly and if I did need it serviced I would probably get that done locally.
I doubt I would want to send it back to California.

So overall a good experience, despite my initial apprehension.
I would certainly be prepared to buy another watch from this outfit.
