Re: Online Sales
In Response To: Online Sales ()

I asked Omega about this yesterday, reported in another forum, by coincidence.

Firstly, you say "Goldsmiths, a high street jeweller in the UK are an authorised dealer", please note that this isn't quite right.

*Some* branches of Goldsmiths UK are Omega ADs, but many other branches are not. If you buy from a branch that is not explicitly listed by Omega as being an AD, then Omega *may* refuse to honour your warranty. Although I was told they would probably honour it "relunctantly". I would not want to rely on that situation.

Secondly, Omega apparently have a policy, in Europe only, whereby certain ADs with bricks-and-mortar branches are allowed to also sell Omega online, provided they follow certain rules (e.g. no discounting). Since Goldsmiths do have *some* branches that are ADs, and they follow the rules, you may buy from Goldsmiths online, and that would be buying from an AD. Albeit at full list price, which is silly.

I asked Omega why their FAQ directly contradicts this; they agreed, but noted the FAQ is for world-wide use, whereas the online allowance is purely within Europe. Still, they could update the FAQ, as I suggested to them.

hope this helps.
