Yet another interesting find that helps to corroborate previous hypothesis and theories. There are some interesting details to be found - 1st generation calibre 11 movement with the dimples on the base plate and gold crown, hour markers and hands which to me indicate that this would have been in a gold case. The gold price has generated a whole industry in recycled gold jewellery. Auctions like these always have dial and movements on their own which suggests that the gold cases have been removed for their base value. I would suggest that in most cases the value is in the gold case however in this example the complete watch with correct serial number 18kt gold case would be worth far more than the sum of the parts. Personally, I think it will be rather difficult to find a gold filled case in any serial number let alone one that matches the chronomatic range what ever that may be for 18 carat gold Carrera cases.

: A dial we've only seen once before, it helps validate that earlier
: dial and actually carries the correct handset too. Finding a
: case in the correct serial range will not be the work of a
: moment but they do exist and then the owner will have a watch
: that should attract the same sort of premium as any other
: Chronomatic-dialled Heuer. Except this one is still rarer than
: those.
: I hope we don't see it with later case and mismatched hands at some
: point - if the new owner is reading and needs any advice on
: serial range etc, I'd be happy to help. I'd like to see it stay
: as original as possible.
: As to worth it, that's for the individual to decide but the
: movement is probably worth that on its own, so you can say the
: buyer got a Chronomatic dial for free. Though it looks like
: there are some replacement parts in there.
