: Hey Chris,
: Great that you've found this place and to see you on here. Remember
: that you contacted me about your ref. 3006 a while back (on
: Heuerville) and I identified it in the German catalogue. A
: pleasure that I could help you out, and that you have your Dad's
: old watch restored and it fine fettle. I have to admit, it was
: very pleasing to dig out that catalogue shot, and to see your
: reaction after hunting for confirmation of the model for a
: decade!! That's what forums/blogs are for!

Stewart - Between you and OTD and this forum I would be lost in my quest to research this model...before seeing the catalog I didn't even realize the replacement sweep was the wrong colour, lol! Now I have word from Tag Heuer Service that they can repaint the original sweep, so that will be happening within the year since it is due for service then anyways.

Since our last exchange on Heuerville my dad found what I think was the "original" strap along with the original manual and warranty slip in a Heuer envelope...all tucked away in his sock drawer! At this point it looks like only the original box is gone. It is unfortunate AutoWorld didn't list the purchase date in the warranty section, since that would be nice to know.

I am guessing at the strap being original since it is the right width (21mm), colour, rally style, and unsigned, however my dad doesn't recall it ever being on a strap like the catalog picture. Personally I think he immediately had it put on a bracelet to wear it daily and just is forgetting due to ageā€¦he is 79 and we are talking about over 30 years ago.
