Not Certain, But Watchmaker Seems Right

We have other regulars who know more about this version of the Montreal [Hello, Chuck!!], but I believe that your watchmaker is correct.

Beginning around 1977, Heuer made a Montreal that was powered by the Valjoux 7750 movement (Reference number was 750.503). Yours has the correct dial and movement for this version of the Montreal, but the case was entirely different . . . suggesting a replacement. Inner bezel was also removed, to make the transplant feasible.

Here is a photo that shows this version of the Montreal, in its correct case. (For ease of comparison, I will also post your photo below.)

I won't hazard a guess regarding the value. It will be worth considerably more to someone who might have a source for the correct case and bezel.

: Hello all, I'm looking for any comments you may
: have about the pictured watch. I purchased
: it a couple of years ago, and had it
: serviced last December by a Tag Heuer
: registered jeweler here in Denver. The
: watchmaker's comment was that it was
: "definitely a Heuer watch and
: movement... as for the case, probably
: replaced."

: Markings on the movement say (as close as I can
: tell): 17 Jewels
: Seventeen
: Unadjusted
: Swiss

: Any thoughts on the watch and its value? I'm
: probably going to sell it, as my wife gave
: me a beautiful new watch for my birthday...
: By the way, the smudges on the crystal are
: from my fingerprints, not scratches!

: Thanks!
