Well, my Ulysse Nardin is not Chronograph Certified, but keeps much more accurate time. I remember when they didn't even have watches that took batteries. When I was a kid, all watches were winders or autos. My fathers lasted 20 years without a single service.
I'm just disappointed that an Omega would run like this. People ask me "why do you spend 2K on a watch?". And I always tell them " Because of the high quality, I'll be able to hand this watch down to my grandchildren." But a Timex will outlast a Rolex? For 25 bucks?
Unbelievable. So, what are the advantages of wearing an expensive watch?
I can see advantages of owning a Mercedes over a Corolla, even though the Corolla will outlast the Mercedes. You pay for luxury, handling ability, performance, looks, styling.
But, what do I get with my Omega that I can't get with a Fossil that will outlast it 3 fold? Fossil makes a very good looking watch. Why buy the Omega instead of the Fossil?
I have a very nice collection of auto watches. Colt Ocean and Baum Mercier are the other two. If these all konch out on me after 5 years then I'm through wasting money on junk and I'll go buy a Timex that'll last 50 years.
