Not just in Germany...

I have heard in several countries that the regular first question is: "Is that real Rolex".

In Croatia, first assumption is also: "It is a fake Rolex?".

It seems to me that most people wear them worn trying to demonstratre "he thinks he is arriving". Most definitly no one ever assumes that Rolex means "I have arrived". There are other brands for that, and common people never heard of them :)

Personally, I do not care for them due to the fact they are not able to produce complicated models and therefore do not have single model I like (minimum for me is chronograph with date). Also, I would be uncomfortable wearing one due to image projection that does not suit me (I am in the bussiness of "selling" MY knowledge and expertise). Also, they are grossly overpriced.

Last week I checked our major advertisements paper, and I have found some 15 adds selling watches. Two were selling old pocket watches (Omega and Zenith), one was real Brelitling (apparently) and the rest was: "Rolex Daytona replica, gold, 150 Euros". Interestingly, there were one or two of them offering Patek Replica also :)

: Must be a specific German obsession with fake
: and/or expensive watches, I think. :-( Or is
: it the same in other parts of the world?
