Re: Seamaster Pro Chronometer vs. Quartz

: that nature. Would both my automatic or a
: quartz suffer about the same damage?

No, the mechanisms are significantly different, so there is no way to compare the two in this aspect.

: Secondly, if I wore my SMP everyday with
: swapping only once in a while, would I still
: have to manually wind the crown?

No. If you wear the SMP at least 12 hours three days in a row, it should continue running for at least anohter whole day while you wear another watch.

: Or would I
: just hold the watch in my hand and shake it
: or move it in circular or whichever-way

Yes, that works too.

: direction? I have tried winding the crown
: but I can't really feel the resistance. Is
: it VERY subtle?

Yes.

: Lastly, is there a "break-in" time
: for automatics? Do I need to wind it
: consistently in a particular way for a
: period of time?

: What about measuring how
: many seconds it is off each day, and
: adjusting the way I set down the watch
: before going to sleep?

What about it? That is described elsewhere on this site. Read up on the articles here--including in the WATCHES section which applies to your watch equally too. They'll answer many of your questions.
