Jeff- you are indeed right about this being a rare opportunity.
The idea that I'd like to propose is to produce a two-watch box set for each of the Carrera, Autavia and Monaco models- 150 of each.
Lets take the Monaco for example. Inside the set would be two watches- the first would be a NOS 1133B Monaco. Not a re-edition, but the real thing with a fully re-conditioned/ NOS Calibre 12 movement, NOS Heuer dial, NOS case, strap/ bracelet, etc. The other watch would be the next generation Monaco- not the current re-edition style- think the V4 prototype- the 2010 Monaco with Tag Heuer proudly on the dial.
Downside? Collectors of original NOS Monaco's may not like there being 150 "new" ones flooding the market- but then again, the interest that this would create could actually increase values. Surely Tag can find and re-condition 450 Calibre 12 movements over the next year from beaters.
This is the sort of set that I would like- the old and the new. Given that Tag has already produced re-editions of the most famous watches, I think that the company should really push the envelope to mark the anniversary.
Welcome any feedback
