Re: Bad service on new watch update

The two issues I have with Omega are:

1) Sent Constellation cal 354 to Omega in Switzerland. They had it for FOUR months. And then they sent the watch back to me without ANY work done, because they apparently didn't have any parts. Of course, the entire time when my jeweler was inquiring about turnaround time, etc. they gave all sorts of mis-leading info, only to return the watch untouched! In the meantime, the watch is at Jurgen Hauff in Germany to get calibrated, re-dialed, and a new crystal in it. If they don't have parts, why not issue a directive to Omega dealers NOT to waste a customer's time and send a watch overseas for 4 months? If a third party watchmaker can do this, why can't Omega (sans the redial?)

2) Sent Omega Seamaster 200m in for overhaul. My main concern was the bezel being stuck, and missing the marker in the triangle. Watch came back with nothing done to bezel, substandard polishing, and who knows if they even touched the movement.

: I had similar problems as the OP. My watch came
: back with scuff marks and scratches. It took
: a lot of effort and half a year to get them
: to rectify it but it still has flaws -
: noticable flaws.

: I have other watches, some cheaper, some more
: expensive. I have never had any problems
: getting them serviced. Since they are all
: automatics - they need to be serviced.

: For one watch company it is standard to check
: the condition of my watch for any marks when
: I drop it off and they return it in the same
: condition.

: I was planning to buy more omegas since they
: are in terms of cost and product a good deal
: - but since servicing is a major issue with
: omegas as this seems to happen too often - I
: would rather shop elsewhere. I think their
: problem is they are too concerned with
: growth and have become just a large
: corporation unconcerned with quality anymore
: - probably much like rolex.

: Although they have some nice wathces - there
: are many better brands out there -
: especially when it comes to service - which
: is everything with automatic watches.
