Creating the event, and its value

I don't think there's anything bad if you sell well a bunch of decent Heuers (with some outstanding lots) having done a good PR with your auction. I was only surprised by the prices: they were maybe 20% higher than expected, and that 20% is the value generated by Patrizzi that created an "event": customers that were not too familiar with vintage Heuers bought at a premium some watches that were on average, say.. average.

Before the auction I was convinced that it would have created a positive environment for vintage Heuers: having seen the buyers behave this way now I am not so sure. Maybe Mark is right in saying that probably its good result will fade away fairly quickly.

P.S. You had to be there to judge the real quality of the pieces. You can't judge by a single picture, even if it is a high definition one. As you probably need to see your next internet date in the flesh to tell if you like her that much.

: Readers:

: So much has been written about this auction, that I sense a bit of
: "fatigue" in the community. Still, I believe that it
: will be worthwhile to attempt a "wrap-up", with three
: simple questions, as follows: where did you see strength /
: which Lots or models went higher than you had expected?

: where did you see weakness / watches that went for lower prices
: than you had expected?

: what does this auction mean for the future of vintage Heuers? what
: impact on prices in our community / future auctions / dealer
: prices / etc.? Will we see a "Patrizzi Effect" on the
: vintage Heuers, as we saw an "Omegamania Effect"?
: Please provide your answers -- short and sweet, or at whatever
: length and level of detail you prefer. Of course, you can also
: feel free to explain the "strength" or
: "weakness" of specific Lots or the entire event.

: Here is David's table, showing the lot-by-lot results --
